Travel into the cradle of civilisation on this full-day Şanlıurfa city tour from Diyarbakır, a private day trip to the world's oldest temple, the beehive houses of Harran and the sacred pools of the "city of prophets". With a professional guide you journey across Upper Mesopotamia, tracing more than twelve thousand years of history, faith and legend.
Collected from your hotel in Diyarbakır, you set off for Şanlıurfa and begin at Göbeklitepe, the astonishing twelve-thousand-year-old sanctuary that has rewritten the story of early civilisation. You continue to Harran, once a capital of the Umayyads, to see the great mound, the Harran Grand Mosque — the oldest mosque of the Islamic period in Anatolia — the courtyard of the world's first Islamic university, the inner castle, the historic walls and the distinctive conical beehive houses.
Reaching the heart of Şanlıurfa, the city of prophets, you visit the sacred Balıklıgöl and Ayn Zeliha lakes with their carp-filled waters and gardens, the cave revered as the birthplace of the Prophet Abraham, and historic mosques including the Rızvaniye and Mevlid-i Halil, with a tea break at the atmospheric Gümrük Han. After a day steeped in history and spirituality you are transferred back to your hotel in Diyarbakır.

Şanlıurfa City Tour Programme You are collected from your hotel in Diyarbakır in the morning and drive to Şanlıurfa. The first stop is Göbeklitepe, the oldest temple in the world, still under archaeological study, followed by Harran — named for its crossroads and once a capital of the Umayyads — where you see the 22-metre mound, the Harran Grand Mosque (the oldest mosque of the Islamic period in Anatolia) in the courtyard of the world's first Islamic university, the inner castle, the historic walls and the conical beehive houses, and the mausoleum of Hayat el-Harrani. Continuing to the centre of Şanlıurfa, the city of prophets, you visit the cave of the Prophet Job (Eyüp) and hear his story from your guide, then the sacred lakes of Halil-ür Rahman, Balıklıgöl and Ayn Zeliha, the Hz. İbrahim mosque complex, the Rızvaniye and Mevlid-i Halil mosques and the cave where the Prophet Abraham is said to have been born. After a tea break at Gümrük Han the tour ends and you return to your hotel in Diyarbakır.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
