This full-day trip from Kemer climbs into the Taurus Mountains to explore Sagalassos, an exceptionally well-preserved ancient city at about 1,700 metres, and then continues to Salda Lake, one of the deepest crater lakes in Turkey. Hotel transfers, a professional English-speaking guide and entrance fees are included, offering a refreshing change from the beaches of the Antalya coast.
The first part of the day is dedicated to Sagalassos Ancient City, set on a mountain slope so high that it often seems to float above the clouds. The earliest traces of settlement here date back around 12,000 years, and the city grew into a prosperous centre in Hellenistic and Roman times. Sagalassos is famous for how complete its monuments are: almost all of the original building blocks have been found on site, allowing archaeologists to piece its fountains, colonnaded streets and public buildings back together. Your guide leads you through these structures and explains the long history of the mountain city.
The tour then drives on to Salda Lake near Burdur, a crater lake about 184 metres deep, renowned for water that shifts between turquoise and deep blue. Its shores of brilliant white mineral deposits create a Mars-like landscape that scientists have compared with the surface of the Red Planet, and you can take as many photographs as you like while admiring the view. In the late afternoon you return to Kemer and are dropped back at your hotel. This daily excursion from Kemer is a relaxed choice for photographers, history enthusiasts and nature lovers; lunch is not included, so you may wish to bring snacks or buy a meal along the way.

Sagalassos & Salda Lake Programme In the morning you are picked up from your hotel in Kemer and travel by air-conditioned coach into the Taurus Mountains towards Burdur province. The first destination is Sagalassos Ancient City, located at an altitude of about 1,700 metres beside a rugged mountain range, which gives the impression of a city built among the clouds. Your guide explains that people first settled here around 12,000 years ago and that the city later flourished under the Hellenistic kingdoms and the Roman Empire. Sagalassos is remarkably well preserved: its monumental structures still retain almost all of their original stone blocks, so you can clearly picture how the public buildings, streets and fountains once looked. After the guided tour of the ancient city you continue to Salda Lake, one of the most popular and deepest crater lakes in Turkey, reaching a depth of about 184 metres. The colour of its water is astonishing, and its shores, formed by white mineral deposits, give the area a Mars-like appearance. You have free time to walk along the shore, enjoy the scenery and take unlimited photographs. At the end of the visit you set off back to Kemer and are dropped at your hotel in the evening.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
