Zelve Open Air Museum

Zelve Open Air Museum is located in Aktepe, Cappadocia, and features three different valleys with ancient rock formations and carved dwellings. The site showcases a historical village abandoned in the 1950s due to collapse risks, where Muslim and Christian communities once lived side by side for centuries. Visitors can walk through old cave rooms, tunnels, and pathways to experience how residents inhabited this extraordinary landscape.

The museum spans a large area with numerous stairs and uneven paths, making comfortable shoes advisable. Ancient rock churches and monasteries dot the valleys, offering insights into monastic life and historical settlement patterns. The site is noted as being less crowded than comparable attractions in the region, providing a more authentic and atmospheric exploration experience with striking natural rock formations throughout.

The same ticket also provides access to the nearby Pasabag Valley. The museum operates daily, and parking, cafes, and facilities are located near the entrance.
