State Railways Museum

The State Railways Museum is a free-admission facility located directly off the main railway platform in Ankara, Turkey. It houses exhibits spanning Turkish railway history, beginning with Ottoman Railway memorabilia and artifacts. The second floor features rooms furnished in the period when Ataturk occupied the building for an extended time, and adjacent to the museum stands Ataturk's private blue railway carriage, available for photographs but not for entry.

The museum's signage is primarily in Turkish, though many ground-floor exhibits are self-explanatory. It appeals most strongly to railway enthusiasts, and staff are known for their hospitality, sometimes offering personalized tours and refreshments.
