The Sabuncuoglu Tıp ve Cerrahi Müzesi is a historic medical museum in Amasya, Turkey, housed in a roughly 700-year-old building that originally functioned as a hospital. The museum documents the medical practices and surgical techniques developed by the renowned physician Şerefeddin Sabuncuoğlu, displaying medicinal plants, traditional healing instruments and manuscripts illustrating historical medical procedures.
The exhibits demonstrate treatment approaches from the 14th to 19th centuries, including the use of music therapy for psychological illnesses and various herbal remedies. Visitors can explore treatment rooms, view detailed miniature illustrations of surgical methods, and learn about the sophisticated medical knowledge of the era. The building itself features carved stonework, natural light and an open courtyard design surrounded by rooms.
