Kurtulus Muzesi
About Kurtulus Muzesi
Kurtulus Muzesi is a history museum located in the Odunpazarı district of Eskişehir, Turkey, housed in a historic building in the Wooden Bazaar area. The museum was opened on October 29, 2016, and commemorates Turkey's War of Independence and the role Eskişehir played in forming the Turkish Republic.
The museum features materials related to the Turkish Revolution, including caricatures, wax figures, battlefield models, period newspapers, and historical documents. A notable highlight is the house where İsmet İnönü, a hero of the liberation war, stayed while leading the army. The museum also offers interactive experiences, such as photo opportunities with lifesize wax figures and displays featuring Atatürk and National Assembly imagery.
The museum provides educational content through short documentaries and exhibits that tell the story of Turkey's independence struggle. While some materials are presented only in Turkish, main exhibits include English explanations.
