Diyarbakır Silvan Atatürk House Museum

The building, as understood from the inscription on the second floor, was constructed in Hijri 1320 (1902–1903) and was used by Hazro Bey Halit Bey in 1908. On April 15, 1916, when Mustafa Kemal Atatürk came to Silvan, he stayed in this house.

During World War I, Mustafa Kemal, the commander of the 16th Corps, was assigned to the eastern front. In April 1916, he came to Silvan with his headquarters and, by taking charge of the defense of the region, stopped the Russian advance toward Diyarbakır. From here, he saved Bitlis and Muş from enemy occupation (1916).

The building was nationalized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism in 1980 and was registered as the Atatürk House in 1992. The mansion, which underwent restoration in 1992, was rearranged and opened as a museum in 2004.
