From Erzurum
This guided day trip from Erzurum combines three of Eastern Anatolia's finest natural sights: Palandoken Mountain, the red Narman Fairy Chimneys and the mighty Tortum Waterfall, all in one well-paced loop. You are collected from your hotel, Erzurum Airport or the city centre in the morning and spend roughly ten to twelve hours travelling through high plateaus and quiet villages with a licensed English-speaking guide, returning to Erzurum in the early evening.
The day opens on the slopes of Palandoken Mountain, which rises directly above the city. You drive up to the Palandoken Ski Center area for short nature walks and panoramic viewpoints over Erzurum, with the option of a tea or coffee at a mountain cafe. A scenic two-hour drive then crosses the rolling countryside of Eastern Anatolia to Narman, where wind and water have carved the rare red-hued rock pillars known as the Narman Fairy Chimneys. An easy trail winds between the formations, and your guide adds geological background and local legends at the best photo spots. After a lunch break at a local restaurant in the Narman or Tortum area, where you can try regional dishes at your own expense, the tour continues to Tortum Waterfall.
Tortum Waterfall is one of the tallest and most powerful cascades in Turkey, at its most dramatic in spring and early summer when snowmelt swells the river. From the viewing terraces you can watch the water plunge into the gorge, take photographs and enjoy the cool spray, and when time allows the tour adds a stop at the Tortum Lake viewpoint. This daily excursion from Erzurum is ideal for nature lovers and photographers, involves only moderate walking, and is best enjoyed between April and October.

Erzurum Nature Programme At around 08:30 your guide collects you from your hotel, Erzurum Airport or a central meeting point in Erzurum and gives a short briefing about the route ahead. The first stop, only about 10 km from the city, is Palandoken Mountain. As the road climbs, Erzurum spreads out below you; at the Palandoken Ski Center area you take short walks in the fresh alpine air and stop at viewpoints for photographs, with an optional tea or coffee at a mountain cafe. From about 10:00 a scenic drive of around two hours leads through the heart of Eastern Anatolia, past broad plateaus and traditional villages. Around 12:00 you reach the Narman Fairy Chimneys, a landscape of rare red rock pillars sculpted by wind and water over millions of years. Following an easy walking trail, you pause at chosen viewpoints while your guide shares geological insights and local stories. From 13:30 there is a lunch break at a local restaurant in the Narman or Tortum area, where regional dishes and vegetarian options can be ordered (not included). In the afternoon you arrive at Tortum Waterfall, one of Turkey's highest and strongest falls, and admire it from panoramic terraces; if time permits you also stop at the Tortum Lake viewpoint. At about 16:45 you begin the return journey and are dropped at your hotel or preferred location in Erzurum around 18:30.

My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
