The village eco tour takes you out of the resort by bus to a small rural village in the green countryside around Marmaris. Here your guide introduces everyday life away from the coast: how villagers build their homes, work the land and practise their faith. The visit includes a village mosque, the local school and a traditional Turkish house, where the family who live there welcome you in. Later in the week the Turkish bath offers a very different kind of cultural experience. After time in the steam of the hot room beneath the central dome, an attendant gives you a traditional scrub and a soap massage, and you finish with a glass of tea in the resting room, feeling thoroughly refreshed.
Between these two excursions you have four free days in Marmaris. You can spend them on the beach and in the clear water of the bay, stroll along the waterfront and through the shops of the town, or arrange extra excursions locally; a daily boat trip and a half-day horse safari are both available as optional extras at additional cost. On arrival you are transferred to your hotel from Dalaman Airport, Marmaris harbour or the bus station, and an English-speaking guide accompanies the included tours. Your holiday starts with a transfer from Dalaman Airport, Marmaris harbour or the bus station to your hotel in Marmaris. After check-in and collecting your room key, the rest of the day is free to unwind after the journey, take a first walk around the resort or enjoy the evening atmosphere of the town. Dinner is served at the hotel, where you stay for all seven nights of the holiday, so you only need to unpack once.
After breakfast you board the tour bus for a trip into the countryside behind Marmaris, to a small village surrounded by fields and green hills. Your guide shows you how local people live: how their houses are built, how they work and cultivate their land and how they practise their religion. You visit the village mosque and the village school, and you are welcomed into a traditional Turkish house by its owners for a glimpse of family life in rural Anatolia. In the afternoon you return to Marmaris, with dinner at your hotel.
The day is yours to spend as you like. Many families head straight for the beach and the warm water of the bay, while others explore the town and its waterfront at a leisurely pace. If you would like a day at sea, an optional boat trip along the coast with swimming stops and a barbecue lunch on board can be booked locally for an additional fee. Breakfast and dinner are served at the hotel.
Enjoy a slow morning with no early start, then make the most of the sunshine. You might relax by the sea, go shopping in the local markets and stores of Marmaris, or simply take it easy at the hotel with the children. A wide range of optional day trips can also be arranged locally if you wish to see more of the surrounding coast and countryside. Dinner is at your hotel.
Another free day by the sea. For families who enjoy the outdoors, an optional half-day horse safari through the forests around Marmaris is available at extra cost; it uses small, calm Turkish horses that suit first-time riders as well as children. Otherwise the day is free for swimming, sunbathing or wandering through the town. Breakfast and dinner are included at the hotel.
Your last completely free day gives you time for anything you have not yet managed to do, whether that is a final long swim, a walk along the waterfront, souvenir shopping or one more optional excursion booked locally. In the evening you return to the hotel for dinner and a relaxed night in Marmaris.
Today you experience the Turkish bath, a ritual of body and mind that has been part of Turkish life for centuries. You change into the traditional cloth wrap and wooden clogs and enter the hot room, where warmth and humidity under the central dome open the pores of the skin. An attendant then gives you a thorough scrub followed by a gentle soap massage. Wrapped in towels, you move on to the resting room, where tea is served before you head back to the hotel for your final dinner.
After a last breakfast you check out of the hotel and your Marmaris family holiday comes to an end. We hope you return home rested, with happy memories of the beaches, the village visit and the Turkish bath, and wish you a safe journey home.
