The Lycian Way is Turkey’s best-known long-distance footpath, winding along the Mediterranean shore of ancient Lycia between Antalya and Fethiye. This seven-day guided trek samples two of its most rewarding stretches: the quiet coves and ruins of the Kekova coast near Demre, and the dramatic mountain section above the sea between Faralya and Kabak. Five full hiking days are framed by an arrival day without walking and a final transfer day, and your luggage travels separately between overnight stops, so you carry only a daypack.
The walking begins at Kaleüçağız, a small fishing village facing the sunken ruins of Kekova. From there the trail follows old coastal paths past olive groves, rocky bays and the remains of Lycian settlements such as Aperlae and Apollonia to Üzüm İskelesi, and the next day continues along cliff paths with swim breaks to the harbour town of Kaş, with the choice of a shorter 9 km route finishing by boat or the full 13 km walk. After a transfer west to the Karadere trailhead, the route climbs through pine forest and rocky terrain to Gey and Faralya, perched high above Butterfly Valley, then crosses rural mountain country to the village of Alınca.
The last hiking day is often considered the most beautiful of the whole trip: cliffside paths with sweeping sea views, shady forest and hidden coves lead down to the green Kabak Valley, with Babadağ Mountain on the horizon. Accommodation is in boutique hotels, village guesthouses and lodges, and the tour includes six breakfasts, picnic or local lunches on hiking days, dinners as listed in the itinerary, a licensed English-speaking hiking guide, daily briefings, luggage transfers, emergency support and transfers from arrival to Fethiye or Dalaman Airport. Daily distances range from about 9 to 20 km, so a moderate level of fitness is recommended.

Our local team welcomes you on arrival and drives you to Kaleüçağız, a peaceful seaside village opposite the sunken city of Kekova. There is no hiking today; the day is set aside for settling in and getting ready for the trek. In the afternoon or evening your hiking guide gives a detailed briefing on the daily routes, safety, terrain and weather, packing and walking rhythm, as well as the history of the Lycian Way. Depending on your arrival time, a light welcome dinner is served at a guesthouse by the water. Overnight in Kaleüçağız.
After breakfast the trek starts on one of the loveliest coastal sections of the route. Ancient footpaths once used by Lycian traders lead along cliffs and through olive groves, past ruins of old Lycian settlements and quiet, untouched bays, with the Mediterranean in view almost all day. A picnic lunch is served at a panoramic spot by the sea, with time to rest and swim. Optional extras such as canoeing in the Kekova area or short stops at hidden coves can be arranged at extra cost. In the late afternoon you reach the Kaş region, where dinner is served in a local restaurant. Overnight in the Kaş region.
Today’s walk mixes coastal trails, rocky paths and fine viewpoints over the open sea, with steady climbs and descents along the cliffs. On the way you stop for a swim in a secluded turquoise bay, take photo breaks and pass small Lycian ruins. Lunch is a picnic in a quiet natural setting. You can choose a short route of about 9 km followed by a boat ride into Kaş, or the full 13 km trek on foot. In the afternoon you arrive in Kaş and have free time to explore its harbour, boutique-lined streets and cafés before dinner. Overnight in Kaş.
After breakfast a transfer takes you to the Karadere trailhead and the start of the mountain section, one of the most spectacular days of the trip. The trail winds through pine forest and rocky mountain terrain to high viewpoints over the coast, on remote and peaceful paths. A picnic lunch is served at a scenic spot overlooking the Mediterranean. In the afternoon you reach the Faralya and Gey area, famous for its sunsets above Butterfly Valley. Dinner and overnight in a boutique mountain hotel.
Following breakfast you continue on foot through rural mountain landscapes, passing traditional villages along the way. The pace is unhurried, leaving time to enjoy the wide views and the quiet of the uplands. You arrive in the village of Alınca in the late afternoon. Dinner, prepared with homemade local flavours, is served at a mountain lodge, where you also spend the night. Overnight in Alınca.
The final hiking day is one of the most scenic of the whole Lycian Way. Expect cliffside paths with dramatic views of the sea, dense forest trails and access points to hidden beaches, with chances to swim in untouched coves. Lunch is taken on a natural beach or in a shady forest spot. In the afternoon you arrive in Kabak Valley, a peaceful hideaway framed by mountains and pine trees. Dinner is served in a relaxed eco-lodge atmosphere. Overnight in Kabak.
After breakfast the tour ends with a transfer; there is no hiking today. Depending on your onward plans you are taken to Fethiye city centre, Fethiye bus station or Dalaman Airport, and early departures can be arranged to match flight times. This marks the end of your Lycian Way hiking adventure.
