On the sightseeing day you visit the Sinop Archaeological Museum with its Seljuk tomb and Serapeum remains, the Ethnography Museum and the Historic Sinop Fortress Prison, a jail of 1887 set within ancient walls that held many Turkish intellectuals and opened as a museum in 1999. The Diogenes monument, the old fortress and the Mehmet Mosque follow, then lunch at a local restaurant, the Byzantine Balatlar Church built in AD 660 and Inceburun Lighthouse, kept by a single family for five generations. The next day you cook Turkish dishes from several regions with an instructor, learn how fruit wine is made in the vineyards and browse a regional leather production centre at factory prices.
Day four is deliberately slow: enjoy the town on your own and be transferred to a local hamam whenever you like for a steam, scrub and wash in the age-old Turkish way.
