My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
3 Days Sinop Heritage Tour: Fortress Prison, Balatlar Church & Inceburun Lighthouse Private Tour
Highlights of the 3-Day Sinop Heritage Tour
Set on a peninsula that shelters one of the finest natural harbours of the Black Sea, Sinop is a small town with a remarkably long story. Most historians trace its foundation to Greek settlers from Miletus in the 7th century BC, and it is proudly remembered as the birthplace of Diogenes, the Cynic philosopher famous for living in a jar. This short break packs the town's most important sights into one fully guided day, framed by an arrival day and a departure morning with airport transfers on both ends.
The guided day starts in the Sinop Archaeological Museum, opened in 1970, whose garden holds a Seljuk tomb and the remains of a Serapeum, a sanctuary of the god Serapis. The Ethnography Museum adds a picture of daily life in the region. The emotional centrepiece is the Historic Sinop Fortress Prison, one of the oldest jails in Turkey: its stone halls were added in 1887 inside fortifications first raised when Sinop was a Greek colony, and many well-known Turkish writers and thinkers served time here before it became a museum in 1999. Along the way you also stop at the Diogenes monument, the historic walls of Sinop and the Mehmet Mosque.
After a lunch break at a local restaurant, the route continues to Balatlar Church, a rectangular Byzantine basilica built in AD 660, and closes at Inceburun Lighthouse, an active beacon on the Black Sea shore that one family has kept for five generations. Two nights of hotel accommodation, two breakfasts, a professional English-speaking guide, air-conditioned non-smoking transport and all entrance fees mentioned in the programme are included, making this an easy way to add Sinop to a wider journey through northern Turkey.

Day 1 Arrival - Sinop โพ
Your trip begins at Sinop Airport, where a member of our local team welcomes you and drives you to your hotel. Once you have checked in, the rest of the day is free. The compact centre of this Black Sea harbour town is easy to discover on foot, so you may want to take a first evening stroll along the waterfront before your overnight stay in Sinop.
Day 2 Sinop ๐ฝ Breakfast โพ
Following breakfast, your guide collects you from the hotel at 08:30. The morning opens with the Archaeological Museum, founded in 1970 to house finds unearthed across the town, with a Seljuk tomb and the remains of a temple of Serapis in its grounds, followed by the Ethnography Museum. Next comes the Historic Sinop Fortress Prison: a stone jail of 28 halls on two floors, built in 1887 inside walls dating back to the Greek colony and converted into a museum in 1999. You also see the Diogenes monument, the old city walls and the Mehmet Mosque, then pause for lunch at a local restaurant where kebabs, meatballs, salads and regional desserts dominate the menu. The afternoon brings the Byzantine Balatlar Church of AD 660 and finally Inceburun Lighthouse, still tended by the fifth generation of the same family. Transfer back to the hotel and overnight in Sinop.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized โ from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
