Today is dedicated to the heart of the Ottoman and Byzantine empires. Your guide collects you at 09:30 for a full-day walking tour of Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque, with an optional visit to Topkapi Palace, the former residence of the sultans (entrance not included). You will also visit the Hippodrome, home to the Egyptian Obelisk and the Serpent Column, before ending the day at the Grand Bazaar, one of the oldest covered markets anywhere, full of textiles, spices and souvenirs. After a 04:00 hotel pick-up for the early flight to Cappadocia, your guide meets you on arrival and the tour starts around 09:00 in Goreme. Your itinerary includes the Goreme Open Air Museum, where you will view ancient rock-cut churches with intricate frescoes. You will visit the peculiar fairy chimneys of Pasabaglar, the surreal formations of Devrent Valley, and the charming town of Urgup. The day concludes with a demonstration of traditional pottery in Avanos, showcasing the local artistry of the region. The tour ends around 16:00 at your hotel in Cappadocia.
Early risers can join an optional hot air balloon flight at sunrise. Around 09:30 the day tour starts with panoramic views over the Goreme Valley before descending into the depths of the Kaymakli Underground City, a complex network of ancient tunnels.
