My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
3 Days Kutahya City Tour: Tile Heritage, Ottoman Mosques and the Byzantine Fortress Private Tour
Highlights of the 3-Day Kutahya City Tour
Kutahya, in the inland Aegean region of western Anatolia, has been famous for its glazed tiles and ceramics for centuries, and the craft is visible almost everywhere you look, from mosque facades to museum showcases. This short three-day break bases you in one hotel for two nights and devotes a full guided day to the city's mosques, museums and old streets. Airport transfers in both directions, two open-buffet breakfasts, an English-speaking guide and the entrance fees for the sites on the programme are included, so it is an efficient way to discover a city that many travellers still overlook.
The guided day starts at the Cinili Mosque in one of the highest quarters of town, whose exterior is clad in some 30,000 ceramic plates and which holds around 500 worshippers. The Donenler Mosque, a 14th-century building later used as a Mevlevi lodge, keeps its galleried ceremonial hall with painted dervish hats on the columns. At the Archaeology Museum the star exhibit is a Roman sarcophagus once placed in the Zeus sanctuary at Aizanoi, carved with battling Amazons, displayed alongside grave stelae and Bronze Age pottery from Seyitomer Hoyuk. You also see the Grand Mosque of 1410 with its sturdy marble pillars and calligraphy, and the Geology Museum, opened in 2008 in the old Sengul bathhouse of the 16th century.
The afternoon brings the whitewashed Kossuth Museum, once home to the Hungarian statesman Lajos Kossuth and furnished in mid-19th-century style, the Tile Museum with Seljuk tile fragments and 20th-century ceramic art, and the Kursunlu Mosque of 1377 from the Germiyanid era, which keeps its original mihrab. After the Clock Tower in the main square you stroll along Germiyan Street, lined with restored Ottoman houses, cafes and restaurants, visit the Kent Museum for an overview of the city's story and finish at Kutahya Fortress, an 8th-century Byzantine stronghold later rebuilt by the Seljuks, the Germiyanids and the Ottomans.

Day 2 Kutahya 🍽 Breakfast ▾
After breakfast your guide collects you for a full day in the city. You begin at the tile-covered Cinili Mosque and continue to the Donenler Mosque, a 14th-century former Mevlevi lodge with a galleried hall for Sufi ceremonies. The Archaeology Museum displays finds from Aizanoi, above all a Roman sarcophagus carved with Amazons, and Bronze Age ceramics from Seyitomer Hoyuk. The Grand Mosque of 1410, the Geology Museum set inside a restored 16th-century bathhouse, the Kossuth Museum and the Tile Museum follow. Later you see the Kursunlu Mosque of 1377, the Clock Tower and Germiyan Street with its restored Ottoman houses, then the Kent Museum, before ending the day at the hilltop Kutahya Fortress and returning to your hotel.
Day 3 Departure - Free Time and 🍽 Breakfast ▾
After breakfast you have some free time in Kutahya, perhaps to browse the ceramic workshops and shops for a hand-painted plate or tile to take home. Depending on the time of your flight, our driver collects you from the hotel and takes you to Kutahya Airport for your journey home, bringing this compact cultural break to a close. We hope the colours of Kutahya stay with you, and we look forward to meeting you again on another journey through Turkey.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
