Highlights of the Turkish Cultural Expedition

Embark on an immersive 8-day exploration of Turkey, a land where ancient empires and diverse cultures converge. Your journey begins in the vibrant metropolis of Istanbul, the historic bridge between Europe and Asia. Here, you will uncover the architectural grandeur of the Hagia Sophia, the intricate blue tiles of the Blue Mosque and the monuments of the ancient Hippodrome, before a sunset cruise on the Bosphorus past Beylerbeyi Palace, Rumeli Fortress and the Ortakoy Mosque. This comprehensive tour traverses the heart of Anatolia, offering a deep dive into the nation's rich heritage.

As we travel eastward, the landscape transforms into the unique geological wonders of Cappadocia, famous for its fairy chimneys and subterranean cities. You will visit the capital, Ankara, to pay respects at the AtatΓΌrk Mausoleum, and explore the spiritual legacy of Konya, the home of the Whirling Dervishes. The itinerary continues to the mesmerizing white travertine terraces of Pamukkale and the well-preserved Roman ruins of Hierapolis, providing a perfect blend of natural beauty and archaeological significance.

The final leg of your adventure focuses on the Aegean coast, where the ancient city of Ephesus stands as a testament to Roman ingenuity. You will walk through the storied streets of this legendary site, admiring its Roman theatres, fountains and temples, and stopping at the lonely remains of the Temple of Artemis near Selcuk. With expert-led tours, comfortable transportation, and carefully selected accommodations, this expedition provides an authentic and seamless experience through the most significant historical landmarks of Turkey.

In Cappadocia the full-day tour covers Ozkonak Underground City, the frescoed chapels of the Goreme Open Air Museum, the abandoned cave village of Cavusin, a pottery workshop in Avanos, Love Valley, Devrent Valley and the Three Beauties fairy chimneys. On the way west you stop at the Seljuk-era Sultanhan Caravanserai and the Mevlana Museum in Konya, and the tour ends with two nights in Kusadasi and a transfer to Izmir Airport for the domestic flight to Istanbul.
