My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
5 Days Istanbul and Trabzon Tour: Bosphorus, Uzungöl and Sumela Monastery (Group Tour)
Highlights of the 5 Days Istanbul and Trabzon Tour
This five-day programme pairs the imperial monuments of Istanbul with the green mountains and lakes of the Eastern Black Sea. It opens with an evening dinner cruise on the Bosphorus, where the illuminated Dolmabahce Palace, Ortakoy Mosque, Maiden's Tower, Rumeli Fortress, Beylerbeyi Palace and the two great suspension bridges slide past while dinner, a DJ and traditional show programmes keep the deck lively until around midnight. The next day a guide walks you through Sultanahmet: the Hippodrome with its Obelisk of Theodosius, Serpent Column and Column of Constantine, the Blue Mosque with its blue Iznik tiles, and the exteriors of Hagia Sophia, Topkapi Palace and the Basilica Cistern, with the option of entering at your own cost.
On the third morning you fly from Istanbul to Trabzon (domestic flights are not included in the price) and head straight into Altindere National Park to see Sumela Monastery, founded in the 4th century and clinging to a sheer rock face. The road then climbs over the Zigana Pass, with wide views of Pontic mountain villages, to reach Karaca Cave near Gumushane, famous for the colours and shapes of its formations. Day four covers Trabzon itself, including the 13th-century Hagia Sophia church with its Byzantine frescoes, Ataturk's Mansion on Soguksu Hill, the Panagia Theoskepastos (Girls') Monastery on Boztepe Hill and Sera Lake, before a lunch stop near Akcaabat, a town known for its meatballs.
The afternoon of day four is reserved for Uzungol, the 'long lake' set deep in the Pontic Alps, where you walk around the shore and the village before settling into a wooden-style hotel. Breakfast is included every day, together with the dinner cruise, lunch and dinner on the Istanbul city day and dinner on day four. An English-speaking guide, air-conditioned transportation, the listed tours and entrance fees, airport transfers and local taxes are part of the package. The tour runs both as a small-group departure and as a private tour, and the Black Sea section is at its best from April to June and in September and October, when mild weather suits walks at the lake and the monastery.

Day 1 Arrival - Istanbul Old City ▾
After landing in Istanbul you are met at the airport and driven to your hotel to check in. Between 19:30 and 20:00 you are collected again for a dinner cruise on the Bosphorus. From the deck you see Dolmabahce Palace, Ortakoy Mosque, the Maiden's Tower, Rumeli Fortress, Beylerbeyi Palace and both the Bosphorus and Fatih Sultan Mehmet bridges lit up against the night. Dinner is served on board, followed by music from a DJ and traditional show programmes, or simply a quiet drink with the view. The cruise ends around midnight and you are returned to your hotel. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 2 Istanbul Old City - Trabzon, Sumela, Zigana, Karaca Cave 🍽 Breakfast · Lunch · Dinner ▾
After breakfast the guided city tour starts at the Hippodrome, once the arena of chariot races and still home to the Obelisk of Theodosius, the bronze Serpent Column and the Column of Constantine. You then visit the Blue Mosque, completed in the early 17th century and named for the blue Iznik tiles inside. Hagia Sophia, the 6th-century masterpiece of Byzantine architecture, Topkapi Palace, seat of the Ottoman sultans for four centuries, and the vast Basilica Cistern are seen from the outside; if you wish to go in, the entrance tickets to Topkapi and the cistern are paid on site. After the tour you return to the hotel, and dinner is served at an Indian restaurant. Bring a scarf for the mosque visits. Overnight in Istanbul.
Day 3 Trabzon, Sumela, Zigana, Karaca Cave - Trabzon city & Uzungöl ▾
An early breakfast is followed by a transfer to Istanbul Airport for the flight to Trabzon. On arrival the tour drives into Altindere National Park to visit Sumela Monastery, a 4th-century foundation built into a steep cliff above a forested valley. Next you cross the Zigana Mountain, where the road offers sweeping views over villages scattered across the Pontic range, and continue to Gumushane for Karaca Cave, regarded as one of the most colourful caves in Turkey thanks to its richly tinted stalactites and stalagmites. In the evening you check in at your hotel. Overnight in Trabzon.
Day 4 Trabzon city & Uzungöl - Trabzon departure 🍽 Breakfast · Dinner ▾
The morning is spent among Trabzon's landmarks: the 13th-century Hagia Sophia church with its remarkable Byzantine frescoes, Ataturk's Mansion on Soguksu Hill above the Black Sea, the Panagia Theoskepastos or Girls' Monastery on Boztepe Hill, and the calm waters of Sera Lake. On the way towards Akcaabat you stop at a local restaurant where the region's famous Akcaabat meatballs are on the menu. In the afternoon you drive up to Uzungol, a lakeside village hidden in the Pontic Alps, for a walk around the lake and through the village before checking in at a wooden hotel. Dinner is included. Overnight in the Trabzon region.
Day 5 Departure - Trabzon 🍽 Breakfast ▾
After breakfast you are transferred to Trabzon Airport for your domestic flight back to Istanbul, where our services end. We hope the contrast between Istanbul's grand monuments and the misty highlands of the Black Sea stays with you long after the trip.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
