After breakfast, explore the historic Hippodrome, once the center of chariot races, featuring the Obelisk of Theodosius and the Serpentine Column. Visit the Sultanahmet Imperial Mosque, known as the Blue Mosque for its Iznik tilework, and the Hagia Sophia Grand Mosque, the greatest surviving work of Byzantine architecture. Bring a headscarf for both mosque visits. After a local lunch, visit a traditional market to browse spices, Turkish delights, and handicrafts before returning to your hotel.
Cruise the Bosphorus waterway to view Ottoman palaces such as DolmabahΓ§e, ΓΔ±raΔan and Beylerbeyi from the boat, along with the Rumeli Fortress and the waterfront of OrtakΓΆy.
