My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
5 Days Gumushane City, Cooking & Hamam Tour: Karaca Cave and Tomara Waterfall Private Tour
Highlights of the 5 Days Gumushane City, Cooking & Hamam Tour
This five-day stay introduces Gumushane, a mountainous province south of Trabzon where the Eastern Black Sea meets eastern Anatolia. The meeting of two climates produces dry summers, rainy springs and a patchwork of pine woods, heath, plateau meadows and flower fields. With four nights in one hotel in Gumushane, the pace is unhurried: one full day of guided sightseeing, one day in the kitchen, one day of relaxation in a Turkish bath, and transfers to and from Trabzon Airport on the first and last days, all with an English-speaking guide and an air-conditioned vehicle.
Sightseeing begins underground at Karaca Cave, the most celebrated of the many caves that dot the province. Though only about 150 metres long, this fossil cave between Torul and Gumushane is crowded with stalactites, stalagmites, columns and terraced travertine pools. The route then leads to Tomara Waterfall at Seydibaba Village, some 25 km from Siran, with time for photos and souvenirs. Throughout the day your guide explains how Hittites, Assyrians, Urartians, Persians, Pontic Greeks, Romans and Byzantines shaped the area, leaving churches such as Santa Cakalli, Santa Terzili, Kalur Rock, Samamoni and Theodor.
On day three a local chef shares the recipes of Gumushane cuisine in a hands-on class, and the salads, desserts and regional dishes you prepare become your lunch. Day four is devoted to the hamam, a bathing tradition descended from Roman baths, where you pass through cold, warm and hot rooms before the attendants perform the classic scrub ritual. Four nights of hotel accommodation, four breakfasts and one lunch, the guided city tour, the cooking lesson, the Turkish bath excursion, entrance fees for the listed visits and local taxes are all included in the price.

Day 1 Arrival - Karaca Cave & Tomara Waterfall ▾
A member of our team greets you at Trabzon International Airport and escorts you to the vehicle for the drive south to Gumushane. The road leaves the Black Sea shoreline behind and climbs through forested hills toward the town, which sits where the humid coastal climate gives way to the drier highlands of eastern Anatolia. After check-in at your hotel there is nothing else scheduled, so you can settle in at your own pace. Over the following four nights the town will be your base for sightseeing, cooking and a traditional bath. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 2 Karaca Cave & Tomara Waterfall - Gumushane cooking class 🍽 Breakfast ▾
Today is devoted to the natural and historic highlights of the province. With your guide you head for Karaca Cave, the best known of the many caves created by Gumushane's geology. Inside this 150-metre fossil cave, mineral-rich water has shaped columns, curtains of stalactites, rising stalagmites and terraced travertine basins. Along the way you hear how Hittites, Urartians, Persians, Pontic Greeks, Romans and Byzantines left their mark here, and how churches like Santa Cakalli, Santa Terzili, Kalur Rock, Samamoni and Theodor survive as reminders of that past. The afternoon brings Tomara Waterfall in Seydibaba Village near Siran, followed by free time to take pictures and pick up souvenirs. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 3 Gumushane cooking class - Turkish bath 🍽 Breakfast · Lunch ▾
This morning, after breakfast at the hotel, you visit a local restaurant whose chef opens the kitchen for a cooking class. Working side by side with the chef, and with your guide on hand to explain techniques and ingredients, you prepare a menu of regional Gumushane dishes inspired by wider Turkish cuisine, rounded off with fresh salads and something sweet. The reward comes at lunchtime, when the dishes you cooked are served to you at the restaurant table. In the afternoon you are driven back to the hotel to relax. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 4 Turkish bath - Gumushane to Trabzon 🍽 Breakfast ▾
After breakfast you are picked up at the hotel and driven to a hamam for a relaxing half day. Bathing culture in this part of the world goes back to Roman times, and a Turkish bath still follows a similar layout, with a cold room, a warm room and a hot room through which bathers move gradually. Each hamam has its own attendants who perform the traditional scrub, a peeling ritual that leaves the skin feeling fresh; women are attended by female staff and men by male staff. After unwinding in the steam you return to the hotel for a quiet evening. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 5 Gumushane to Trabzon - Gumushane 🍽 Breakfast ▾
After breakfast and check-out, you are transferred from Gumushane to Trabzon Airport for your flight home. During the drive there is time to look back on a varied stay that brought together a guided day among caves, churches and waterfalls, a cooking lesson in a local restaurant and a traditional hamam ritual. Thank you for travelling with us; we look forward to welcoming you on another tour in Turkey.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
