A member of our team meets you in the arrivals hall of Izmir Airport and drives you south along the Aegean coast to your hotel in Kusadasi. After check-in you receive your room key, and from that moment the day belongs to you. Many guests use these first hours to stroll along the seafront promenade, watch the boats in the harbour or simply rest after the flight. No sightseeing is planned for today, so you can settle in at your own pace before the guided programme begins tomorrow morning.
Your guide collects you from the hotel and the first stop is Gazibegendi, a hilltop viewpoint that looks out over the entire town and bay. Its name recalls a visit by Ataturk, who admired the panorama so much that the mayor named the spot in his honour. Next comes Pigeon Island, the emblem of Kusadasi, crowned by a Byzantine castle that once guarded the coast against pirates. You then see the Caravanserai, a fortified Ottoman inn that today hosts Turkish night performances. The afternoon continues on foot through the town centre, with a visit to a carpet-weaving workshop where one of Anatolia's oldest crafts is kept alive. Your guide can also point you to recommended jewellery, leather, bag and souvenir shops, as well as stores selling Turkish sweets, before you return to the hotel.
After breakfast you are driven to a local restaurant for a professional cooking lesson led by a local cook. Learning to prepare Turkish dishes side by side with someone who grew up with them is one of the most direct ways to understand village life and everyday culture in the Aegean region, and you spend the rest of the morning in the setting of a typical Turkish village. The dishes you make become your lunch, enjoyed together at the table. In the afternoon you head back to the centre of Kusadasi for free time and shopping, then the transfer takes you back to your hotel for the evening.
Breakfast is served at the hotel, and the hours until your transfer are yours to fill as you wish: a last walk by the harbour, a coffee overlooking Pigeon Island or a final round of souvenir shopping. At the agreed time your driver picks you up and takes you back to Izmir Airport for your homeward flight, ending a short but rewarding stay on the Aegean coast.
