My husband and I chose Inca Tour for our honeymoon and we are so glad we did. The boutique hotel selection was beautiful and the Bosphorus dinner cruise was so romantic. Thank you for making our trip special!
4 Days Gumushane City & Cooking Tour: Karaca Cave, Tomara Waterfall & Local Cuisine Private Tour
Highlights of the 4 Days Gumushane City & Cooking Tour
Gumushane is one of the least crowded provinces of north-eastern Turkey, a land of pine forest, heathland, high plateaux, caves and waterfalls lying just inland from Trabzon. Its position between the rainy Eastern Black Sea and the drier interior of eastern Anatolia gives it dry summers, wet springs and an unusually green landscape full of wild flowers. This four-day programme uses the town of Gumushane as a single base, so you unpack once and spend your time discovering the region with a professional English-speaking guide, travelling by air-conditioned vehicle from and back to Trabzon Airport.
The sightseeing day is built around two natural landmarks. Karaca Cave, between Torul and Gumushane, is a compact fossil cave of roughly 150 metres whose chambers are decorated with stalactites, stalagmites, columns and travertine pools formed by water seeping through the rock. Tomara Waterfall tumbles down near Seydibaba Village, about 25 km from Siran. Between the two, your guide tells the story of a province ruled in turn by Hittites, Assyrians, Urartians, Persians, Pontic Greeks, Romans and Byzantines, whose heritage includes historic churches such as Santa Cakalli, Kalur Rock and Theodor. Free time at the end of the day lets you take photos and choose a few gifts.
The third day turns to the table. In a local restaurant the chef teaches you how to prepare dishes from Gumushane cuisine, a regional style within Turkish cooking, along with salads and desserts, and you then eat the lunch you made together. The package includes three nights of hotel accommodation in Gumushane, three breakfasts and one lunch, airport transfers, the guided city tour, the cooking lesson, entrance fees for the visits in the programme and local taxes, making it an easy short break for travellers who enjoy nature, history and food in equal measure.

Day 1 Arrival - Karaca Cave & Tomara Waterfall ▾
Your holiday starts at Trabzon Airport, where our team meets you in the arrivals hall. A comfortable road transfer then carries you inland, away from the coast and up into the green valleys of Gumushane province. On reaching the town you check in to your hotel and the rest of the day is free for unpacking and resting after the journey. This first evening is a good moment to look over the programme for the next days, which combines a cave, a waterfall, historic churches and a hands-on lesson in the local kitchen. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 2 Karaca Cave & Tomara Waterfall - Gumushane cooking class 🍽 Breakfast ▾
After breakfast your guide collects you for a full day of sightseeing. The first stop is Karaca Cave, a fossil cave between Torul and Gumushane that runs for about 150 metres. Water seeping through intersecting cracks in the rock has built up stalactites, stalagmites, columns and small travertine pools along its length. Your guide also introduces the long history of the province, which passed through Hittite, Assyrian, Urartian, Persian, Pontic, Roman and Byzantine hands and kept churches such as Santa Cakalli, Kalur Rock and Theodor. Later you drive to Seydibaba Village, about 25 km from Siran, to see Tomara Waterfall, then enjoy free time for photos and gift shopping. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 3 Gumushane cooking class - Gumushane to Trabzon 🍽 Breakfast · Lunch ▾
Following breakfast you are taken to a local restaurant for the culinary part of the tour. The restaurant's chef leads a cooking class while your guide translates and explains each step, from preparing the ingredients to finishing the dishes. The menu focuses on recipes from Gumushane cuisine, a regional branch of Turkish cooking, and also includes salads and desserts. When everything is ready you sit down at the restaurant and eat the lunch you have prepared together with the chef. Afterwards you return to the hotel and the rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in Gumushane.
Day 4 Gumushane to Trabzon - Trabzon 🍽 Breakfast ▾
Enjoy a last breakfast before checking out of your hotel. Our driver then takes you back along the mountain road to Trabzon Airport in good time for your onward flight. We hope these four days have given you a taste of Gumushane, from the formations of Karaca Cave and the spray of Tomara Waterfall to the flavours you learned to cook yourself, and that you will join us again for another journey in Turkey.

What Our Travellers Say
Real, verified reviews from travellers who explored Turkey with us.
It was important for us to have a guide who spoke Russian, and Ender was wonderful. He explained every detail at Dolmabahce Palace. The Princes Islands day trip was a beautiful break from the busy city.
Our guide Ender was incredibly knowledgeable about Turkish history. The hot-air balloon ride at sunrise in Cappadocia was the highlight of our trip. Everything was perfectly organized — from airport pick-up to the last d...
Ender was our Italian-speaking guide and we felt like family. He took us to local spots tourists never see. The hotel choice in Sultanahmet was perfect for walking everywhere.
10+ years later we still talk about our Cappadocia balloon ride and the Bosphorus sunset cruise. Some memories are timeless. Thank you Inca Tour!
