Turkey's Classic Sights, Fully Organised

Over 11 days this tour links Gallipoli, Troy, Ephesus, Pamukkale, Antalya, Cappadocia and Istanbul. Domestic flights, airport transfers, guided tours with entrance fees, hotel accommodation, daily breakfast and lunch on tour days are included.

On the Gallipoli peninsula your guide explains the 1915 campaign at ANZAC Cove, Lone Pine, Chunuk Bair and the surviving trenches, a moving visit for travellers from Australia, New Zealand and beyond. Further south lie Troy, the city of Homer's Iliad with its many layers of settlement, and Pergamon, whose hilltop Acropolis and steep theatre overlook the plain.

Kuşadası on the Aegean is your base near Ephesus, with a seafront promenade, a small marina and free time for the beach. Ephesus is one of the highlights: a Roman city of marble streets, the façade of the Library of Celsus and a theatre for 25,000 people, visited together with the House of the Virgin Mary and the site of the Temple of Artemis.

Pamukkale's white travertine terraces and the ruins of Hierapolis above them form one of Turkey's most photographed landscapes; there is time to walk barefoot in the warm pools and, for a fee, swim in the Antique Pool among sunken columns. On the Mediterranean coast, Antalya combines a lively old town and beaches with a day trip to Perge, the Roman theatre of Aspendos, seaside Side and a waterfall, plus free time to relax.

Cappadocia's fairy chimneys, rock-cut churches and underground cities are explored on guided tours of the north and south of the region: Göreme Open-Air Museum, Avanos, Devrent and Paşabağ, the Red and Love valleys, Pigeon Valley and an underground city. A sunrise hot-air balloon flight can be added. Istanbul frames the journey. The historic peninsula holds Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque and Topkapı Palace within walking distance of each other, and free time lets you explore the Grand Bazaar, the Spice Market or the waterfront along the Bosphorus at your own pace.

Practical tips: bring comfortable walking shoes, a hat and sunscreen, swimwear and a small towel for the Pamukkale terraces, a warm layer for cool Cappadocia mornings, especially if you book the balloon flight, clothing that covers shoulders and knees for mosque visits and your passport or ID card for the domestic flights. Your guide speaks fluent English, and the tour schedule may change slightly with the season and flight times while all listed visits are kept.

Tours run in small groups of up to 15 people, or as private tours with your own guide and vehicle; standard or top-end hotels can be chosen, and international flights are not included so you can travel from anywhere.

Good to know: prices are per person in a double room; single and triple rates are available on request. Children aged 4–7 receive a 40% discount and children aged 0–3 a 70% discount when sharing a room with two adults.
