Highlights of the 6‑Day Bilecik City & Cooking Tour

Begin your journey in the historic town of Bilecik, in the region where the Ottoman state was born, where the Bilecik Museum showcases archaeological and ethnographic treasures in chronological order. The city’s skyline is dominated by the Clock Tower built by Sultan Abdulhamit II, while the panoramic Shaykh Edebali Tomb and the cliff‑edge Orhan Ghazi Mosque, with its solitary minaret, reveal the spiritual foundations of the empire.

Day 3 immerses you in the culinary traditions of the region with a hands‑on cooking lesson that culminates in a shared lunch of Bilecik Guveci and a locally inspired dessert. Afterward, free time in the bustling city centre lets you browse markets and pick up souvenirs. A restorative Turkish bath follows, featuring a hot dome, a traditional scrub, and a soothing soap massage, before a drive of about 25 km to the scenic Kınık Waterfall.

The final exploration takes you to Sogut, the birthplace of the Ottoman dynasty, where the Ertugrul Ghazi Mausoleum and the Ertugrul Gazi Museum display Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman artifacts. Architectural gems such as the 19th‑century Kaymakam Fountain and the 12‑domed Celebi Sultan Mehmet Mosque add depth to the itinerary, while İnhisar Cave and the entrance of Harmankaya Canyon Nature Park show the wilder side of the region.

The tour is private and runs at a comfortable pace from one hotel in Bilecik, with English-speaking guides, breakfast daily and lunch on the cooking day, and transfers from and to Bursa Yenişehir Airport. It combines early Ottoman history, home-style Anatolian cooking, a hamam and green landscapes in one relaxed week.

Day-by-Day Itinerary

Day 1 Arrival - Bilecik City Highlights ▾

Upon landing at Bursa Yenisehir Airport, you will be met by the guide and transferred to your accommodation in Bilecik. After settling in, the rest of the day is free to wander the town. Overnight in Bilecik.

Day 2 Bilecik City Highlights - Cooking Class & Shopping 🍽 Breakfast ▾

After a hearty breakfast, the day begins with a visit to the Bilecik Museum, housed in a former courthouse and opened in 2006, where archaeological and ethnographic collections are shown in chronological order. The tour continues to the Shaykh Edebali Tomb, offering sweeping views of the cliffs, followed by the Orhan Ghazi Mosque, notable for its minaret perched on a separate rock. The iconic Clock Tower, a four‑sided structure with a face on each side, dominates the hilltop. The afternoon concludes with a short drive to Pelitozu Pond, a pine‑shaded lake spanning over 213 hectares, ideal for a relaxed walk or a brief picnic.

Day 3 Cooking Class & Shopping - Turkish Bath & Kinik Waterfall 🍽 Breakfast · Lunch ▾

Following breakfast, you will be escorted to a local restaurant where a professional chef guides you through the preparation of Bilecik Guveci, a traditional meat and vegetable stew, and a sweet dessert unique to the region. After enjoying the meal you helped create, the group returns to the city centre for free time to explore bazaars, sample street food, and shop for handcrafted goods before returning to the hotel.

Day 4 Turkish Bath & Kinik Waterfall - Sogut & Inhisar Exploration 🍽 Breakfast ▾

Today’s morning begins with a visit to a historic Turkish bath, where you will experience the ritual of warming the body under a domed steam chamber, followed by a thorough scrub and a gentle soap massage. A cup of tea is served in the resting lounge before you depart for Kinik Waterfall, a picturesque cascade emerging from the village of Kinik, about 25 km from town. The waterfall’s misty spray provides a refreshing contrast to the city’s stone streets.

Day 5 Sogut & Inhisar Exploration - Departure 🍽 Breakfast ▾

After breakfast, the itinerary heads to Sogut, the cradle of the Ottoman dynasty. Here you will visit the Ertugrul Ghazi Mausoleum, a late‑13th‑century tomb honoring the father of Osman Ghazi, and the Ertugrul Gazi Museum, a 20th‑century building displaying Roman, Byzantine, and Ottoman relics. The tour proceeds to the elegant Kaymakam Fountain and the 1420‑built Celebi Sultan Mehmet Mosque, famed for its twelve domes. Continue to İnhisar Cave, surveyed by the MTA in 2002 (about 170 m long and 40 m deep), and finish at the entrance of Harmankaya Canyon Nature Park, a 3 km canyon with waterfalls (crossing the full canyon requires swimming and equipment). Please note that the Ertuğrul Gazi Museum is closed on Mondays.

Day 6 Departure - Departure 🍽 Breakfast ▾

After breakfast and some free time, you will be transferred back to Bursa Yenisehir Airport for your onward flight, carrying memories of Ottoman heritage, Turkish flavors, and natural beauty.
